How Martin Shkreli Got His Hands On Lil Wayne’s Unreleased Album

Like a bad sequel

Late last year it came out that literal supervillain Martin Shkreli had got his hands on the only available  copy of Tha Carter v. It came after he bought the only copy of the Wu Tang Clan album Once Upon A Time In Shaolin. He paid two million for the Wu Tang album which has left fans pretty pissed as he refuses to release a full quality version of it. A couple of livestreams from Shkreli have only made it worse with fans getting a taste of something they may never have.

If it were a movie, you’d call it a dumb excuse for a sequel but real life has no problem being so stupid. Shkreli ended up with another near mythical album after a copy was found in Lil Wayne’s old Bugatti. The Bugatti Veyron was sold to a man who found a number of Wayne’s personal belongings inside. Among a number of albums was a copy of Tha Carter V which he then sold to Shkreli.

Back in May, Shkreli let fans in on snippets of some of the album including one track with a Kendrick Lamar feature. However, the livestreams have stopped amid cease and desist warnings from Universal Music Group and Wayne’s lawyers. With all the controversy, it was The Daily Caller’s Alex Pfeiffer who revealed how the album ended up in his hands. According to Pfeiffer “[The man] called Wayne and asked if he wanted them back and Wayne said ‘no.’ One of these CDs turned out to be Tha Carter V and he sold it to Shkreli.”

In the meantime, listen to some of Once Upon A Time In Shaolin as streamed by Shkreli below.
