Aaron Hernandez Commits Suicide In Prison

Aaron Hernandez has been found dead in his jail cell.

Former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez committed suicide earlier this morning in his jail cell. The 27-year-old was serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for the murder of Odin Lloyd in 2013.

According to reports, Hernandez used a bed sheet to hang himself and was found by correction officers at 3:00am. In a statement the Massachusetts Department of Correction said  “Mr. Hernandez was in a single cell in a general population housing. Mr. Hernandez hanged himself utilizing a bed sheet that he attached to his cell window. Mr. Hernandez also attempted to block his door from the inside by jamming the door with various items.”

“Lifesaving techniques were attempted on Mr. Hernandez, and he was transported to UMass Leominster, where he was pronounced dead at 4:07 a.m.,”

The suicide comes after Hernandez was acquitted of a double-murder charge last week.
