Chance The Rapper is making a generous donation to Chicago Public Schools.
Yesterday, Chance The Rapper announced at a press conference plans to donate $1 million towards the Chicago Public School system. The decision follows what has been described as a disappointing meeting with Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner.
“Today, I’m proud to announce that I am donating $1 million to CPS to support arts and enrichment programming,” the rapper said at the press conference at Westcott Elementary School in Chicago.
His charitable effort has garnered a lot of praise, including from former First Lady and fellow Chicago native Michelle Obama, who took to Twitter to thank the 23 year old.
Thanks @chancetherapper for giving back to the Chicago community, which gave us so much. You are an example of the power of arts education.
