Moonlight took home the Oscar for Best Picture after mix up with La La Land.
After being nominated in eight categories, Barry Jenkins’ Moonlight won the Oscar for Best Picture at last nights Academy Awards. The film was also nominated for Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Adapted Screenplay, while Nat Sanders and Joi McMillon nominated for Best Film Editing, making McMillon the first ever black woman to receive and Oscar nomination for film editing.
However, there was a mix-up when the winner was being announced by Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty, with the presenters accidentally announcing La La Land as the winner. The mistake was realised a few minutes later and La La Land producer Jordan Horowitz announced Moonlight had actually won the Oscar.

Jenkins said of the mistake backstage “I’d never seen that happen before. It made a special feeling more special but not in the way I expected. The last 20 minutes of my life have been insane, beyond life changing.”
