Shepard Fairey Launches ‘We The People’ Campaign After Successful Kickstarter

His newest campaign is his angriest and most important

Shepard Fairey’s ‘Hope’ poster created for Barack Obama’s campaign for The White House in 2008 set a standard for how politicians wanted to get their face out there. He took a crack at a poster for Donald Trump which was a lot less kind, branding the President-Elect a Demagogue.

The ‘We The People’ campaign is the brainchild of 18 artists. It’s raised $1.3 Million on Kickstarter, smashing its goal of $60,000.

The non-profit Amplifier Foundation heads up the project. Representatives of the Foundation see it as a way to fight ‘fear, hate and open racism’.

The plan is to print the designs of Fairey and the other artists to protest Trump’s inauguration. Following that, they’ll supply banners for the Women’s March following it. The money raised will also be used to take out full page ads of the posters on Inauguration Day.
