Eminem has paid tribute to the director of 8 Mile, Curtis Hanson.
Oscar-winning director Curtis Hanson died on Tuesday at the age of 71. Eminem is among those paying tribute to the late director, screenwriter and producer.
“Curtis Hanson believed in me and our crazy idea to make a rap battle movie set in Detroit. He basically made me into an actor for 8 Mile. I’m lucky I got to know him,” the rapper told Billboard.
Hanson won an Oscar for L.A Confidential, and also found success directing films such as The Hand That Rocks The Cradle and The River Wild.
The director had praised Em multiple times for his role in 8 Mile, calling him an “extraordinarily gifted artist.”
